Configure your Windows XP Firewall:

If you are unable to connect to the download network, your Windows XP
firewall may not be properly configured to allow access to MP3 Rocket:

Configure your Windows XP Firewall:

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel,
  2. Open Network Connections,
  3. Right-click on the connection you use to connect to the network,
  4. Choose Properties,
  5. Go to the Advanced tab,
  6. If your firewall is Enabled, go to step 8,
  7. If you want to enable the Windows XP firewall, check the box (this will enable the
    Settings button. If you are not interested in enabling your Windows XP firewall,
    click Cancel -- MP3 Rocket will not be affected),
  8. Click the Settings button,
  9. Click the Exceptions tab at the top,
  10. Click the Add Program button,
  11. Find MP3 Rocket in the list and add it,
  12. Now, click on the Add Port button,
  13. In the Name field, enter Gnutella, and in the Port Number field, enter 6346.
    Make sure the TCP radio button is selected (checked),
  14. Click on OK,
  15. Now, click on the Add Port button again,
  16. In the Name field enter Gnutella, and in the Port Number field, enter 6346.
    Make sure the UDP radio button is selected (checked),
  17. Click OK, and
  18. Make sure the list of services has two items labeled Gnutella, and make sure they are both checked.

  19. Click OK.
