Configure your Windows XP Firewall:
If you are unable to connect to the download network, your Windows XP
firewall may not be properly configured to allow access to MP3 Rocket:
Configure your Windows XP Firewall:
- Go to Start > Control Panel,
- Open Network Connections,
- Right-click on the connection you use to connect to the network,
- Choose Properties,
- Go to the Advanced tab,
- If your firewall is Enabled, go to step 8,
- If you want to enable the Windows XP firewall, check the box (this will enable the
Settings button. If you are not interested in enabling your Windows XP firewall,
click Cancel -- MP3 Rocket will not be affected),
- Click the Settings button,
- Click the Exceptions tab at the top,
- Click the Add Program button,
- Find MP3 Rocket in the list and add it,
- Now, click on the Add Port button,
- In the Name field, enter Gnutella, and in the Port Number field, enter 6346.
Make sure the TCP radio button is selected (checked),
- Click on OK,
- Now, click on the Add Port button again,
- In the Name field enter Gnutella, and in the Port Number field, enter 6346.
Make sure the UDP radio button is selected (checked),
- Click OK, and
Make sure the list of services has two items labeled Gnutella, and make sure they are both checked.
- Click OK.
