Configure your Windows Vista/7 Firewall:
If you are unable to connect to the download network, your Windows Vista or 7
firewall may not be properly configured to allow access to MP3 Rocket:
Configure your Windows Vista/7 Firewall:
- Go to Start > Control Panel,
- Open Network and Internet,
- Click on Allow a Program through Windows Firewall,
- Click on the General tab,
- If your firewall is On (recommended), go to step 7,
- If you want to enable the Windows Vista/7 firewall, click the radio button beside On and then
click Apply at the bottom. (If you are not interested in enabling your Windows Vista/7 firewall,
hit Cancel -- MP3 Rocket will not be affected),
- Click on the Exceptions tab at the top,
- Click the Add Program button,
- Find MP3 Rocket in the list and add it,
- Now, click on the Add Port button,
- In the Name field, enter Gnutella, and in the Port Number field, enter 6346. Make sure the
TCP radio button is selected (checked),
- Click on OK,
- Now, click on the Add Port button again,
- In the Name field enter Gnutella, and in the Port Number field, enter 6346. Make sure the
UDP radio button is selected (checked),
- Click OK, and
Make sure the list of services has two items labeled Gnutella, and make sure they are both checked.
- Click OK.
